Description

This material consists of crystalline silver nanoparticles whose outer facets are coordinated with and stabilized by a dense monolayer of sodium phytate (phytic acid salt) molecules. The polyphosphic carbohydrate rings form a highly organized, heavily charged organic boundary layer that prevents silver nanoparticle aggregation through intense electrostatic repulsion from the peripheral phosphate groups. This precise structural layout provides a highly water-soluble template with a strong negative surface potential and active polyvalent metal-coordination coordinates.
