Properties
Description
This material consists of crystalline silver nanoparticles whose outer facets are covalently linked to a dense monolayer of thiolated cyclodextrin (CD) macrocyclic oligosaccharides via stable sulfur-metal bonds. The bucket-like toroid structures of the cyclodextrin molecules project outward into the continuous fluid phase, forming a highly organized, cavity-rich organic boundary layer that prevents nanoparticle aggregation through strong steric hindrance. This precise structural layout provides active supramolecular guest-inclusion coordinates that can lock hydrophobic guest molecules via non-covalent interactions.
