Tumor-Associated Globo-HCer Antigen Production Service

Characteristics of the Globo-HCer Antigen

Globo-HCer antigen is a tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen, a glycolipid composed of six sugar molecules. It is also an antigen that is overexpressed in many cancers, such as breast, colon, ovarian, gastric, pancreatic, lung, and prostate. In particular, it can be highly expressed in epithelial cancers. Therefore, based on its ability to be overexpressed on the surface of malignant tumor cells, the Globo-HCer antigen may be a target for novel cancer therapeutics and can be used to synthesize cancer vaccine candidates and induce the formation of antibodies against cancer cells.

Tumor-Associated Globo-HCer Antigen Production Service at CD BioGlyco

CD BioGlyco has a complete Vaccine Development Services Platform and is focusing on the development of various vaccines, such as Carbohydrate Vaccines. The production of relevant antigens is an important part of the vaccine development process. For the development of tumor-related vaccines, CD BioGlyco provides Globo-HCer antigen production services.

  • Chemical synthesis
    • Total synthesis
This synthetic route mainly consists of two steps based on pre-activated glycosylation and modified iodosulfonylimination/rearrangement.
    • Linear synthesis
We will synthesize the tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen Globo-HCer by a linear approach with a glycosylphosphomonosaccharide structural unit. The highly selective galactosyl phosphate donor mounts the α-(1→4-cis)-galactoside bond.
    • Automated solid-phase synthesis
Globo-HCer antigen belongs to carbohydrates and this method is more applicable for the synthesis of carbohydrates.
    • One-pot synthesis
This method employs sequential coupling of four glycosyl structural units, which is simple to operate and has higher efficiency of sugar assembly.
  • Enzyme synthesis
    • First pathway
Several glycosyltransferases are used and combined with sugar nucleotides to synthesize the Globo-HCer antigen.
    • Second pathway
Globo-HCer antigen is synthesized using a rapidly assembled preactivation-based one-pot glycosylation method in combination with specific glycosyltransferases.

Because Globo-HCer is expressed on many tumors in the human body, we also offer the development of anti-tumor vaccines using Globo-HCer as an antigen in combination with preservatives, stabilizers, surfactants, diluents, and adjuvants.
