Role of MSGb5Cer Antigen

Tumor cells overexpress some specific glycan structures on their surface, which are called "tumor-associated glycan antigens". These tumor-associated glycan antigens are important molecular markers on the surface of tumor cells, so it is important to obtain structurally homogeneous and defined glycan antigens for studying their biological activities and developing anti-tumor vaccines. Among such antigens, MSGb5Cer antigen is a specific antigen against tumor cells and is highly expressed in many types of tumor cells. We take advantage of the fact that MSGb5Cer antigen is overexpressed on the surface of a wide range of tumor cells and use it in combination with other essential substances such as stabilizers to synthesize tumor-associated vaccine candidates that induce the formation of antibodies against tumor cells as well as cancer cells.
