Description

These curcumin-rare-earth upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) are hybrid systems that integrate the organic molecule curcumin with inorganic upconverting cores. Curcumin can act as a photosensitizer or a fluorescent reporter in combination with the NIR-to-visible conversion of the UCNP. These materials are used to investigate energy transfer between natural phenolic compounds and lanthanide ions.
