These 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid (DOTA) modified water-soluble Upconverting Nanoparticles (UCNPs@DOTA) are surface-functionalized with a high-affinity macrocyclic chelator.
