Description
These glycine modified water-soluble upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) are surface-functionalized with the simplest amino acid, glycine, to achieve excellent aqueous stability. The small molecular size of glycine ensures a thin ligand shell, maintaining a small hydrodynamic diameter while providing zwitterionic properties that prevent nanoparticle aggregation. The inorganic fluoride core remains highly photostable, providing sharp emission peaks upon near-infrared excitation.
