Description
These lithium yttrium fluoride:erbium/ytterbium@lithium yttrium fluoride (LiYF4:Er3+/Yb3+@LiYF4) upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) utilize a tetragonal host lattice to provide unique polarized emission properties. The undoped LiYF4 shell acts as a structural passivator to eliminate surface defects and enhance the luminescence of the Er3+ and Yb3+ dopants. These particles are synthesized to maintain a high degree of crystallinity and specific tetragonal morphology.
