Description

These metal hydroxide modified upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) consist of rare-earth doped fluoride cores surface-coated with a layer of inorganic hydroxides. The hydroxide layer provides a unique surface chemistry and can act as a protective barrier or a platform for further functionalization. This modification is used to study the interaction between fluoride crystals and metal hydroxide coatings and their combined optical and chemical properties.
