These polyacrylic acid (PAA) modified NaY(Gd/Lu/Nd):Yb,Tm@NaYF4:Yb,Nd upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) are water-soluble core-shell materials with a carboxyl-rich polymer coating. The PAA modification ensures that the nanoparticles remain clear and non-aggregated through carboxyl-mediated repulsion in aqueous solutions. The blue-emitting core-shell architecture is optimized for 808 nm excitation to avoid thermal energy production.
