These poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) coated upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) feature a luminescent core modified with a dense layer of hydrophilic polymer chains. The PEG coating provides superior steric stabilization, preventing nanoparticle aggregation in high-ionic-strength laboratory buffers.
