Description

These poly-l-lysine modified upconverting nanoparticles (PLL modified UCNPs) are surface-functionalized with the cationic polypeptide poly-l-lysine (PLL). The high density of primary amino groups on the polymer chain provides a strong positive surface charge and excellent water solubility for the inorganic cores. These particles are used to investigate electrostatic interactions with anionic species and the behavior of cationic nanophotors in aqueous chemical environments.
