Properties
Description
These nanoparticles are surface-modified with synthetic polyhistidine peptide sequences that anchor securely to the rare-earth ions via the imidazole nitrogen atoms. The structure introduces a pH-dependent surface charge due to the protonation characteristics of the histidine residues, altering the colloidal stability as a function of acidity. This peptide modification provides excellent chelating affinity for transition metal ions like nickel or cobalt.
