These pyropheophorbide-a (Ppa) conjugated sodium yttrium fluoride ytterbium erbium at sodium yttrium fluoride ytterbium neodymium (NaYF4,Yb,Er@NaYF4,Yb,Nd) core-shell upconversion nanoparticles (core-shell UCNPs) utilize a neodymium-sensitized shell for improved 808 nm excitation. The composition features an erbium-doped core that emits light to activate the surface-bound ppa molecules. The structure is designed to enhance the brightness and chemical stability of the inorganic-organic conjugate.
