These protein A modified rare-earth upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) feature a surface coating of protein A, which specifically binds the Fc region of various immunoglobulins. This modification enables the oriented capture of antibodies on the nanoparticle surface for high-sensitivity optical detection research. The rare-earth core provides bright, photostable upconversion luminescence that remains unaffected by the protein A conjugation.
