These protein modified sodium yttrium (gadolinium/lutetium/neodymium) fluoride:ytterbium,erbium,neodymium,neodymium upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) consist of inorganic cores surface-treated with specific proteins to create a hybrid material. the protein layer can provide both structural stabilization and functional reactivity in chemical systems. The upconverting core provides bright and stable optical signals that can be detected without interference from background light.
