Description
These silica (SiO2) coated sodium yttrium (gadolinium/lutetium/neodymium) fluoride:ytterbium,erbium,neodymium,neodymium upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) feature a protective silica shell surrounding a high-sensitizer-concentration fluoride core. the silica layer protects the core from quenching and provides a platform for further chemical functionalization. The high neodymium concentration allows for strong light harvesting at 808 nm, resulting in bright upconversion luminescence.
