Allium Sativum Lectin Production Service

Allium Sativum Lectin Production Service

Allium sativum lectin (ASA) is a lectin from garlic, which is also known as garlic lectin. It is a protein with multiple biological activities and has strong antibacterial, antiviral, and antioxidant capabilities. This lectin recognizes and binds to sugar molecules, helping the body recognize and defend against viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens. CD BioGlyco provides a one-stop Lectin Production Service to extract and purify various lectins from natural sources. In particular, our Plant Lectin Production Service focuses on extracting and purifying lectins from plants and provides customized services to obtain the best yield and quality.

ASA Extraction and Isolation Service at CD BioGlyco

ASA is extracted and isolated from garlic bulbs. The bulbs are homogenized with a blender, then the extract is filtered and centrifuged. The protein pellet is resuspended in PB and dialyzed. The crude protein is then loaded onto a mannose agarose column and the column is washed thoroughly with PBS. Bound proteins are eluted with mannose in PBS.

ASA Purification Service at CD BioGlyco

Affinity-purified proteins are dialyzed against two different concentrations of PBS and concentrated.

ASA Molecular Weight Determination Service at CD BioGlyco

The molecular weight of lectins is determined by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis under reducing conditions. The molecular weight is analyzed using a variety of suitable standards according to the corresponding methods. Proteins are visualized on the gel by Coomassie staining.

ASA Products at CD BioGlyco

We offer a range of ASA and related products, including unconjugated ASA, conjugated ASA, ASA elution buffer, and ASA binding buffer. A detailed product list is shown in the table below.

Technology: Immunogenicity testing

Journal: Molecules

IF: 4.6

Published: 2022

Results: Researchers examined the immunogenicity and adjuvant potential of garlic lectins alongside their impact on ovalbumin (OVA) in vivo. BALB/c mice were divided into control and experimental groups, and ASA I and ASA II were delivered via intranasal and intradermal routes to assess the humoral immunogenicity of anti-lectin and anti-OVA responses. Following intradermal administration, ASA I triggered a 4-fold rise, while ASA II showed a 2-fold increase in anti-lectin IgG responses compared to controls by day 14. Meanwhile, intranasal administration on day 50 resulted in a 3-fold increase for ASA I and a 2.4-fold increase for ASA II.

Here are some of the results shown in this article:
